Ok, Advil didn't really cure my honeymoon headache but nonetheless it is gone! Thank you for the great comments and after begging my fiance to sit down and come up with a plan we have one. Granted it will still be several months before we book any flights or hotels it is still so exciting to know where we will be going for 10 days next summer. Let me fill you in.
Since driving from San Fran to LA was going to be ridiculously expensive and the Caribbean I feared was going to be too hot, we went back to our original idea, just modified it a bit. We will now be driving from San Fran to Big Sur and then back. This will cut down on costs dramatically but still allow us to see the amazing views along Hwy 1 and spend ample time at each stop. The weather would be a bit chilly for some but for us it will be perfect! I am thinking stops in Half Moon Bay, Santa Cruz, Monterey Bay, Carmel and of course Big Sur. I can't wait and it looks like we found a place to rent a Mini-Cooper convertible. Bonus!
Here is a little slide show for you.

Hi!
My husband and I did that for our honeymoon and it was just incredible! Hopefully the fires won't have marred Big Sur too much...If you have an extra day or two Mendocino County is really stunning (it's about 3 hours north of San Francisco)
I am a tad jealous. That was high on our list of things to do for our honeymoon also. A short vegas trip won out though...which will be fun also.
guess what! We're going to San Francisco on our honeymoon! We're staying in the city for four nights and then my wonderful fiance has rented a convertible and we're going to drive somewhere that is a surprise! Our last night we've got a hotel near the airport with a bay view! Oh I'm so excited! I think that y'all have planned a wonderful honeymoon! My brother and sister-in-law just returned from an anniversary trip to San Fran and loved it. A couple in our class at church went to San Francisco on their honeymoon and loved it! Hooray! Good plan! i would *highly* recommend a stop in saratoga on hwy 9, too. it's super cute, and we had an amazing meal at the basin.
I just got back from a similar trip (Morro Bay > Big Sur > Carmel > Monterey > San Fran > Sonoma) and had a great time with perfect weather - even though it was winter. You'll have a blast! Make sure to give yourself time to relax though. While everything is gorgeous and there is something different to see/do in each location, I felt we rushed the end of our trip more than I'd have liked and I came back needing a vacation! Ours was just a trip for the holidays though, not a honeymoon, so we stayed at decent, but not fancy places and rented an economy car.
