To DOC or not to DOC?

Yes, I have resorted to using common wedding terms such as DOC (Day of Coordinator), I am officially brainwashed! How many of you are having or had a wedding planner or a day of coordinator? Definitely not a money saver but with all the DIY details I feel like we need someone to insure everything is put in place. Our reception venue does have a rental manager but I know it is not in her job description to set up place cards and favor boxes, etc., etc.. So if you don't have a DOC who does those things? I suppose any amount of money is worth the piece of mind so you aren't stuck running around on your wedding day.

there are a few people that can help, depending on how good you think they are, how staffed they are, and how much you want them to do. the first is your venue's in-house person, and the second is your catering manager, and the last is your florist - for example, your catering manager can take care of setting your place settings and putting your favors out, etc. but honestly, a DOC is a good idea for ANYONE, as it's just a really hard thing to get people coordinated if there isn't one person responsible, ya know?

I was freaking out about this also, but our banquet manager told me they would do everything and made me feel really confident that they would do a great job. And they did! I took some picture of things, so it was basically fool proof anyway.

If the our venue wasn't so helpful, I would have recruited my aunt I am sure...only because a DOC just wasn't in our budget.

My insane amount of DIY details sealed my DOC fate as well. But, if you're on a budget like me, spending 1,200 - 1,700 on a "DAY OF coordinator" was not an option. I found 2 DOC's (in Chicago) that wouldn't break our bank. Let me know if you want more info on them...

Everyday Bride: Would you be able to give me the info on the budget friendly DOC that you have? I'm thinking about going this route for my wedding.

I don't want to quote prices "publically", just in case... email me at theeverdaybride@gmail.com

we're having a doc. she's a friend of a family friend, but actually does it as a job, too. we also have an event facilitator, but our doc will be there to help do all the little details and general things that we need her to. doc's aren't really as expensive as i thought they were, for what they do. or, at least, ours isn't

we ended up going with a "month of" coordinator, which now that we are 2 months away i am so relieved and cannot wait for her to take over. I'm in a similar situation with many DIY projects to organize on the final day and to me it was totally worth it to know that someone was in charge off making sure that i don't have to worry about a thing. if you can swing it financially, go for it!

I am having one. I feel much better already. I recently went to a wedding that had tons of money invested and everything went wrong. It was all planned great until the day of. Don't stress on your special day!

Cute blog! Just started mine.
