Review: Uline.com

Although the Papermart moss pouches won by a mile, thank you for all your votes and comments, I ended up ordering the Uline boxes. Why you ask? Well a. I wasn't totally sold on the jute texture of the pouches and b. Papermart would not send a sample so I could make sure the green was a good match (although they did give me a PMS color as a reference which was very nice of them), I wasn't thrilled about paying shipping and then possibly having to return them. And finally c. I had ordered this great paper a few months ago and wanted to find a use for it. It will be cut into strips and make a decorative band around the boxes.




I felt like the boxes gave me more creative freedom and now I don't have to waste my $30 worth of wrapping paper. The boxes were also super cheap, $12 for a box of 100, and I can use the remaining boxes (we only need about 70 for the favors) as take home boxes for the desserts. I am slowly getting more efficient and practical in my purchasing!

So I highly recommend ordering from Uline. They sent me samples on two different occasions, free of charge, and my order came within two days. Granted they are based about 45 minutes from where I live but I imagine all orders are shipped right away. They have an online live chat feature which I love, there is no minimum to order or fee to set up an account. They have gift boxes in all sizes, take out boxes, gable boxes, retail bags, tissue paper, all perfect for favors, out of town boxes, take home containers, etc.

Favor Fever: Kiddies

Since our favor (wine bottle stopper) is really only useful to those 21 and up I have to think of something for the younger crowd and kiddies. This could be difficult because a 17 year old wouldn't be interested in the same thing as a 6 year old. We are inviting quite a few youngins to the wedding. I am already thinking of having a kids corner for the rowdy ones, activity books, games, etc, so for ages 5-13 maybe a Mad Libs book or Invisible Ink book. I used to love these and it would keep them entertained.

Or maybe just some candies? I love this picture ( I am SO sorry I don't remember where I found it). Or do kids even need/want favors?

Zebrawood wine bottle stopper compliments of Dad Windy City Wedding, aren't they pretty!

Option 1: Gift box from Uline, will be decorated with label or decorative wrapping paper. You have to order 100 minimum so extra boxes could be used for dessert leftovers which is a plus.

Option 2: Cloth pouch from Uline, could be silk screened or Gocco-fied with a simple design, in green or gray. Or could have our names and date silk screened. A little plain but a keepsake pouch whereas box would just get thrown away. Downside, I would have to order 200 minimum, only need 70 or so.

(I couldn't get the pictures to copy from Uline, boo I know.)

Option 3: Cloth pouch from Papermart, again would be silkscreened. I am not digging the bulky drawstring so much but could work.




Option 4: Jute pouch from Papermart in Moss. Not sure if the green is right and they don't do samples. Most expensive at 45 cents each.

The Great Favor Debate

Over the weekend I was thinking a lot about favors, maybe too much, I am sure too much, but we really want to do something different or something people will actually use. We are most likely having take home boxes for the dessert buffet/ice cream bar so a sweet treat favor is out so I came up with some alternatives and narrowed it down to two options. Please let me know what you think!

Option 1: My dad is an amazing wood turner and has been making wood bowls, vases, etc. for years. He also makes his own wine bottle stoppers. Unfortunately I do not have a picture but he turns and hand carves the wooden knob and then attaches the stopper. I like this idea because I am close to my dad and want to show off his talent and I think people would actually use this.

Option 2: I have always loved products from Knock Knock. They have these clever and hilarious (see more here) sticky pads (aka post it notes). They have several different choices and since some are probably not appropriate for grandparents or children I could pick and choose which guests get which pad. I like this idea because it reflects me and my fiance and our sense of humor and its something people probably have not seen before. But...how often do people use sticky notes and would they think, huh why a pad of post it notes?
