Letterpress Love

Ever since working for a stationery company I have grown to love anything and everything letterpress. There are so many talented companies that specialize in letterpress invitations and I wish it was in our budget. My fiance works for a printing company and we have made invitations for friends before and it would be a little wasteful to spend so much on something we can do ourselves and have printed for very little money.

Maybe I can still sneak some letterpress in, I would love to get these cards for the out of town baskets. I gave this card to my fiance when we moved in together and it was partially responsible for inspiring our color scheme.

Project DIY: Episode 4

Episode 4: Save the Dates

Since I am only in the gathering ideas stage and not the actual making stage I won't have any fun pictures to share but I will make sure to post them as soon as any production begins. We are going with the increasingly popular postcard save the date. Only I suppose to save on envelopes and waste as we will probably end up using the same Eames 42 cent stamp since postcard stamps are generally ugs.

I am thinking the front of the postcard will have an image (photograph or drawing) of me and the fiance. Something a little vintage, artistic, or maybe comical. Back of the postcard will have one half decorative in the pattern we like, with a sqaure where addresses are inserted. Other side will have area info/date. Pretty simple but the invitations are going to be pretty fab and I just want the save the date to be easy.

Project DIY: Episode 1

Since we are attending an open house for a possible caterer tomorrow night I am going to post a little early.

Episode 1 - Table Runners

As I mentioned in a previous post I was looking for green stripe fabric to make my own table runners, look no further Paper Source has the answer. This stripe is perfect, it has the perfect chartreuse green (looks much different in person) and will be less expensive than fabric (also less work, no edges to hem). I would purchase the roll sheets since they are the biggest, cut each sheet in half, sew or tape the two pieces together and voila one fab table runner. $6.50 per roll, two sheets per roll. If we go with 6 ft tables I can make 2 runners per roll and for approximately 12 tables. 6 rolls at $6.50 = the bargain price of $39 for 12 fabulous table runners. All this requires is cutting the sheets in half and then taping or sewing together in the middle. Ease level: Easy

Invites

A big thank you to An Excited Bride for posting about these great invitations. I love the little pocket, a great way to hold the rsvp card, directions card, etc. I have seen similar paper pockets at Paper Source but I think the fabric personalizes it so much more.

Is it Summer Yet???

I can not wait for the Eames stamps to come out this summer. FINALLY a good stamp! I will be first in line to score these puppies for our save the dates and invites.

NEW Snow and Graham (yay)

I found some awesome new Snow and Graham prints on Paper Mojo. I went ahead and ordered ten sheets of the gray, I really have no purpose for it but will work it in somehow.
I was so settled on shades of green and gray for my colors but I have been so drawn into the whole yellow and gray trend. I have always loved yellow (my engagement ring is a yellow diamond) and it looks so pretty with the pale gray. Do you think I will still like yellow and gray a year from now or will I be completely sick of it after seeing it everywhere?
Opinions (as always) appreciated!!

Broadway Paper

If you live anywhere near the Milwaukee are you must stop in Broadway Paper. They have such a great collection (Snow & Graham, Egg Press, Elum, Whimsy Press and so much more) and everyone who works there is so friendly.
I am considering ordering these gift wraps from their website to use for wrapping favors, maybe table runners, or making paper flowers. I haven't quite decided but I like them so much I will use them for something! I think I might use the talking bubbles on the kids table as something for them to draw on.
I am always on the lookout for neat green or gray themed papers so if you see any please send them my way!

Possible Bridesmaid Gifts

I love these notes from Pink Loves Brown. Brooklyn Bride featured them recently as part of her bridesmaid gift guide. Choose a different font and color scheme to match each of your friend's personalities. They have several cute designs to pick from.

I also love the idea of a monogrammed cardigan for the girls that they can wear on the wedding day (if it gets chilly) and many days after. This is the Jackie cardigan from J. Crew, $62 + $10 for monogram, they have several great colors to pick from, my personal faves are fresh clover and sour lemon (shown above).
